Connecticut Foundations of
Reading Test
Preparation Course
Saturdays this Fall-
October 2, 16, 30 and November 6
This 20-hour, course will present a foundation in literacy and reading acquisition consistent with scientifically based reading research and aligned closely to state reading standards as reflected in Connecticut’s Blueprint for Reading Achievement (2000) and Beyond the Blueprint: Literacy in Grades 4–12 and Across the Content Areas (2007).
This course will prepare students to take the Foundations of Reading licensure exam. (For details and sample test, go to www.ct.nesinc.com).
It is also designed to prepare pre-service teachers to teach early literacy and reading at the pre-K through grade six levels. Content will focus on comprehensive reading and will address theory, evidence-based instructional practices, assessment and factors that lead to reading difficulties for students with varied language and learning characteristics.
