Joan Cohen believes that all individuals should experience the sense of empowerment and accomplishment that reading offers. She first pursued her lifelong desire to teach at Literacy Volunteers of America, then in regular education and special education classrooms in public and private schools, and as a consulting multi-sensory language instructor. Joan holds an M.S. in Reading from Southern Connecticut State University and is a Fellow in the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. She is currently a diagnostic reading evaluator, a literacy instructor providing individualized, evidence-based literacy instruction to individuals with learning disabilities (specifically dyslexia), school reading consultant and supervisor of Orton-Gillingham trainees.
